About Mrs. Higgins

My name is JoAnne Higgins. This is my eighth year as the Wednesday evening Fourth Grade catechist. My husband Bob (of 33 years) and I along with our two grown children, Bobby and Angela, have been parishioners at MMR since 2001. My dad, Joe, who now lives with me and my husband, is also an MMR parishioner.

During the day, I am a Nurse Anesthetist, making sure that surgical patients are asleep for their surgery! I have been a nurse for 34 years.

I am also involved in various parish ministries such as being an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and coordinating the Walk to Jerusalem during Lent. I am passionate about sharing my love of Jesus with others. As a Mercy Associate (women and men who are in a commitment to mercy within a formal relationship with the Sisters of Mercy and minister to those who are poor, sick and uneducated through the spiritual and corporal works of mercy), I am committed to living out the works of mercy and hope by the end of the PREP year you will too! In October, I will begin my training in Spiritual Direction, a program that nurtures and supports those who wish to deepen their own spirituality and explore spiritual companionship with others.

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, walking, and spending time with my family!!

About Mrs. Baker

My name is Annette Baker and I have been a member of the MMR Parish Community since 2003. I have been married to my husband Dan for 47 years and we have three children, Derek, Bryan and Lisamarie. Two of my children are also members of MMR parish. I have seven grandchildren ranging in age from 6 to 14, so a good portion of my time is spent attending my grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities. Their interests are varied including Irish Dancing, competitive dance teams, theater, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, baseball and karate.  My husband Dan and I really enjoy watching our grandchildren participate in their activities and use the talents they have been given.  We also enjoy traveling and have been on many cruises and have visited Italy, the Vatican and Spain.  We have a plan to visit all the states in the United States during our retirement. I retired in 2015 after working in the Financial Services field for over thirty years. This is my second year as a volunteer in MMR’s PREP program. I enjoyed helping with the Fourth Grade class last year and am looking forward to guiding this year’s Fourth Grade students as they learn more about their faith and grow closer to God.
